All those "concepts" are as bad as the Robocop3 flying thing.

Please let them stop there with one at the end of the movie.
I was rather disappointed with this ending, I was hoping for a female rebel predator or something else
The dumbest shit ever to be introduced in a Predator movie.
He has very human-like teeth, a neat way of showing he is part human
I re-evaluated Predators today, seeing it again. I think it is the most faithful to the original one. It has a good script (even a quote from Hemingway blended naturally within the dialogue), it has a coherent and simple story, building suspense, good cast. And the predators in it match the highest expectations. Just like in the beautiful pictures of this post.
Like David would have said: "That's the spirit".
This film has become a favourite for me.
See it again, especially now.
Did anyone else notice that the ultimate predator was mumbling all the time? Walking and mumbling.
After the second viewing it is clear the Fugitive Predator was extremely disoriented like he didn’t know what to do all the time. Maybe it was the human DNA or the fact that he did not properly recovered after being heavily sedated. He was indeed more of a warrior than a hunter, but a warrior that only wanted his gear back and then to be left alone.
I guess he grabbed McKenna by the neck only to get back the magic sphere than made him invisible.
He only killed in self defense.
How extraordinary for a predator. He was a lovely guy compared to the ultimate predator.
When the ultimate predator used the english translator and told the Loonies he'd give them a head start before terminating them, man, that was hilarious. Later he was on fire, coincidentally or not there was a pond of water nearby in which he fell so the fire was put out. At the end of his life on screen there was another explosion that should have disintegrated him, but no, he was still in one piece and alive but heavily wounded because it was McKenna who had to smite him and mock him for good.
It felt like watching cartoons, but not the good old Disney's.
This film definitely addresses to a much younger age group than the one I am in.
Anyway, after the Fugitive Predator premature death everything is just funny looney tunes.
There are many aspects to this film I liked. Additional background, the different story arcs, the cast, the ships, the equipment, the action. I hope Fox/Disney makes the right choice and does a follow up film but its hard to say.
There are some saying that the Predator killer should have been Dutch, Harrigan or Royce.
As for the Black Goo in the pod, it, and likely Prometheus' black goo is s actually taken from an unused idea from AvP, in which the predators would use the black goo for hypersleep - there was to be scene of a Predator emerging from a pool of black goo in AvP's opening scenes, it is mentioned on the bonus DVD for AvP
I think everyone can personally choose what to ignore from Canon..... i dont think this movie would get removed from Canon by FOX.
I have yet to see the Movie... so i cant comment much about it, and its why i have ignored related Posts so as to not get too spoiled.. Sadly it seems the Writers just cant make a Good Story that does the Alien and Predator Franchises any Justice... But then its a case of can anyone make a Predator movie or Alien movie that is going to please EVERY fan?
I cant say if The Predator is a Prometheus kind of disappointment to some fans, or a Alien Covenant kind of disappointment to some fans... or even a AVP disappointment to some fans... SURELY it cant be a AVPR disappointment though ;)
"sloppy editing"
Prometheus had bad Editing... but most of this was Fault of RS/FOX i would say The Predator is not at such a Fault.... its Editing was a case of various Re-shoots and Scenes they had NO CHOICE but to cut out.
We have to WONDER what kinds of U-Turns in Plot was made to the Movie that Warranted a number of Changes, and it would be interesting to see how Close the Movie is compared to the Drafts just prior to when the Production/Shooting was given the Go Ahead.
Go and watch it , you may like it , this is just my opinion after all
Agree about support. Although I can't see it yet, I did buy 4 tickets for others to enjoy. Support is support I suppose.
MonsterZero go and watch it, and enjoy.
I'd most definitely watch again over punching myself in the face XD
Uggh..going to stop reading these forums! Lol!
Off to watch Predator tomorrow......But these posts don't help! (Staying home and punching myself in the face sounds about as much fun as this movie!) ...but no...I'm going.
I did like this film, except the direction of the ending. But yes FOX try harder, please dont make the sequel an Iron Man / Transformers / Avengers film....
Perhaps the suit itself does not need to be the "Predator-Killer" but is only a tool for a human to reach the predator-killer?
Just throwing ideas out but perhaps McKenna needs the suit to access the fugitive clans Yautja orbital Dyson Sphere that was taken from them by the other Yautja. He takes a team on-board, explores, finds lots of history and lore of the Yautja. kills a few pred's with the suit then gains the research data to halt their genetic upgrading.
As a long time fan of the 1987 Predator movie, I liked the new predator movie, not as much as the original predator or predator 2.
I agree with Chris
It seems legit to support movies you don't like only to get what? Other movies you will not like?
Fox, try harder.
In the comics Predators had managed to "tame" certain strains of Xenomorph to do their bidding. Fugitive could have left them an "obediant" Alien strain? I dunno hahaha that would be a bit of a stretch.
I'd have preferred the gift be a curse in disguise. Black Goo stolen from Engineers or a Xenomorph which would eviscerate Human kind, altering the genome so that other Predator faction could no longer taint their bloodline and splice it with other species. That to me would have made more sense given the plot direction this one took.
That black liquid the PREDATORKILLER came out of looked suspiciously a lot like the Black Goo from urns in Prometheus anyways.
Somebody suggested it should have been the Terminator.
I'd have preferred few urns with the engineers' pathogen.
I'm going to see it the second time this Saturday mostly because I don't want to wait 10-15 years before we get the next film in the franchise. Also I want to see more of the fugitive predator as I kind of missed it first time.
I love to look this ugly MF in the eyes.
No, it shouldn't have. Alien isn't the ultimate killer of Predators. It's the ultimate killer of everything. What the fuck are the humans suppose to do with it that wouldn't result in their own death?
Though I agree it's better than what we got, because everything is.
"did someone say genetic modifications"....
Haha! Or David to come out of the pod....
It should have been better if it would be a Deathstar with dreadlocks.
It was better than Predators and both AvP films in terms of "Predator" authenticity, imo. I would remove / reboot AvP and AvP:R and Predators before we remove The Predator. But then we'd be left with the classics, which by far are the best. But at some point we need to embrace some evolution of the lore.
Yep, regardless of what you wish to compare it to I think Predator fans should support the film and see it if anything at least to support the franchise itself so we get more Predator movies.
Just finished my second viewing and I have more solidified opinions.
The Best: The animatronics and practical effects really made the start of the film nostalgic. Fugitive Predator scenes were by far the best. As GMan pointed out, I too agree the CGI Predator did nothing for me and actually demystified the Predator lore a bit for me. What's up with the Ultimate's vision mode POV without needing a mask?? Also the exoskeleton generation and overall look really just didn't vibe with me at all. I much preferred the Super Predators from Rodriguez's film. Again though - practical effects. The Predator needs to stay old school and not go the route of CGI. Alien suffered this as well with Covenant.
Another point for best was the comedy. I loved the Loonies and genuinely felt sad to see them killed off. I haven't felt for the Human characters in a Predator film since the original. The comedy really added a layer of entertainment for me. Predators tried to make the Predator a serious movie and it failed. The Predator needs that 80s style nostalgic cheese, one liners and hilarious quips.
I also loved the pacing. Even on my second viewing I never found myself bored or distracted.
Music and sound effects were on point as well. No complaints there!
The Worst: CGI Ultimate Predator for one, killing off the Fugitive Predator too early and the Iron Man style Predator Killer suit. Those really are my biggest gripes.
I was 6 yrs old in 1987, and still remember to this day may dad letting me watch it, but the ugly mother fucked line, my dad coughing, films are my life, predator is my ultimate number 1. I can't belive what shane black has produced, making the franchise the biggest joke it's ever been. Only one thing I could do after getting home from watching the worst film ever and the film that gave me so many O MY GOD moments, am I watching this, I got home and watched the original, now need to face facts, 80s nostalgia wont be happening to the predator like it did karate kid. Please don't do any more shane black, predator ain't a buddy film like leathel weapon, but even that was your best work, you produced a film about a group of wanna be one line comedians went after the ultimate Hunter, you put dogs in there if that wernt bad enough, you let a dog get shot in the head and become a retard dog. Arnold realised his best work was being shit on and I don't blame him for staying away. Predator is now dead, 1987 you should have watched it before you started making it, yes I know you was in it but fuck me was you Pissed off and held a grudge it killed you 1st
I saw the movie this afternoon and liked it a lot. The referencing to previous movies was small enough not to distract from this film yet provided just enough context for understanding the bad guys interest.
I always wanted more background on the predators and their world and we finally got that. There was a little in Predator 2 and Predators but not much.
Overall I'd give this a 9/10. Non-stop action and gore. This is what the big screen is for. Also I liked the set up for the next film, if there is one. I think Black did a terrific job considering the size of audience he has to please.
I have to say some of the complaints I heard (comedy, mental health references, too much history, etc.) didn't bother me at all. I hope if there is another film we get more context and background of the predators. I guess we'll see.
Good stuff Australia! I don't have any stats to back it up, but IMO The Predator franchise is probably one of the more popular hard Sci-Fi franchises here.
For whatever reason, the comradely humour in this film particularly resonates here.
I Raptus Australia leads the foreign box office for the debut weekend:

It got my international ass in a seat XD
Upvoted for encouraging others to give it a watch XD
Nice Topic!
Yep, have to agree with The Fugitive scenes being the best part of the film.
That being said, I thought the Super-pred was pretty brutal! I would have enjoyed seeing more of a running battle with it and the Fugitive, instead of smashing its face in the first encounter.
That and anytime Keegan-Michael Key & Thomas Jane were on-screen together was gold.
Bad: That f^&king suit at the end!!! No.
What was the idea behind the ultimate predator, after all? That one and the cheesy "predator killer" suit do not fit here, leaving aside the poor CGI.
Contributing to the worst: No more CG Predators in this franchise. One of the reasons the Fugitive was so exciting to watch on screen was due to how incredible the practical effects were. I don't necessarily agree with some of the sleek/clean design decisions for the Fugitive, but it's lightyears better than another, typical, hulking, CG monstrosity. We have enough of those in the MCU, Jurassic World, Legendary's Monsterverse, The Meg, Pacific Rim, etc, etc.
The Predator doesn't need to be added to that list. It's unique today because it's suitmation and animatronics. I completely lost interest in the title creature when the Fugitive bit the dust. The entire movie just sunk to a new low after that. I want to see the gadgets, the gear, the helmet. I don't want another staring CG monster in this franchise.
...and I giggled a bit when, on the last fight scene, the disc was released and they were like "It's gonna come back..you gotta catch it"....nope nope nopey nope hehehe
I submitted a thread days ago, but not through yet for some reason....regarding supporting the movie so we get to see more. Would be gutted if we don't. With all the cool ideas fans have, and there are some really good reads too, it would be a bit short sighted not to go ahead with this. My fav scene was the WTF moment everyone had when the new predator bust through the window. Worst scene - how the predator died so suddenly...like why do they all.have.to.die? Could've had so much potential with the idea of working with the people to dispatch the new one.
