it's seems good,i'm gonna watch it as soon as possible..
These images are sweet. Dane Hallett is truly incredible.
Kind of glad but also sad about this at the same time. Haha
The arena guards looked great in live action!
This soundtrack is so good. Will it be released on physical?
When’s the release date for this?!?! Very excited for it and want to play it. Also what’s the cosmetics you can unlock?
As a longtime fan of the Predator franchise (as well as Alien and AVP), I make it a point to watch every new release in theaters. Experiencing these films on the big screen is truly unmatched.
What I’m most looking forward to this time is seeing the story told from the Predator’s (Yautja’s) perspective and watching the character of Dek evolve throughout his journey.
Going to the theater has always been a nostalgic experience for me—it’s more than just watching a movie. The simple joy of grabbing popcorn and a cola before the film starts is something I’ll always cherish. It’s unfortunate to see that experience slowly fading away.
Submitted mine with you last week, they're mostly about his Stunt career, but he was wonderful in the movie. Can't wait to read the interview, he's so kind to do this.
Just got back from seeing it, I really liked it but thought the ending felt rushed. The soundtrack and visuals were incredible (quite a few shots reminded me of The Lord of the Rings) and of course I loved the Synths and the lore we got about them and MUTHUR. The action scenes were great, and I really enjoyed the story.
I give it an 8/10. It reminded me of the comics in all the best ways.
Spoiler, but the whole last fight scene I had this song in my head, lol.
You're right! On my second viewing I spotted it – nice little Easter Egg!
Yes. It's a digitized light shaped rendering when Kwei is showing Dek the various planets to choose for a hunt in the first part of the movie.
Raptakis,And you're leaving out the part that filming in New Zealand gives 20th Century a 20% rebate. A safe bet would be a gross in the $260M world wide range, but it may end up needing less. And as a fan of Predator since the 80s, I prefer my Predator films to be blood soaked with more dreadlock flailing, plasma caster blasting, spine ripping Predators that include hardened soldiers spouting bad sex jokes and cocaine drug dealers. That said, the movie won me over at nearly every turn in spite of having everything I usually wouldn't want to see in a Predator film. But if it works it works and this film worked.
This comment ^ same same and same. It really did win me over as well. I will say though, and further emphasize my last point, I would probably have not been as forgiving or accepting if Trachtenberg had not proved himself as a competent Predator film director already with Prey – that one was far more inline with what we expect from a Predator movie. Having given us a taste of both sides of the Yautja spectrum, I feel like the meal was well balanced. Prey gives us what we expect and Badlands gives us what we don't expect. I'm all for more from Dan, whether its familiar, blood soaked dreadlock flairs or new adventures with Dek, Thia and Bud. I'm happy either way.
Vastly more forgiving than what happened with Alien Earth... 💀
Raptakis,

I’m looking forward to seeing Badlands in theaters - movies are always better on the big screen! I’m excited about this movie because it’s something we really haven’t seen before in a Predator film - a runt Predator trying to prove himself?? Fantastic! Also, how does this tie into the Alien universe? Is this setting up a new Alien vs. Predator movie? I’ve loved going to the movies ever since I was a small child, it’s a magical experience for me! I saw the first Predator movie in theaters when I was very young and I can still remember the way that theatre (at my local mall) looked, smelled, the way the seats felt… Nothing compares.
Now I am definitely getting the Badlands stuff for Fortnite!
Predator Badlands that is, not AVP 04
New spot leads with "from the Studio that brought you Alien: Romulus"...
$105 million to make. you left out the advertainment cost and memorabilia which thats about another $80 million, so the film it self needs to make around 220 million " give or take " to be considered profitable. to make it successful, it needs to make about 300 million. if your a predator fan like myself your not really happy with this film. even the comics did it better. this film i wouldnt recommend to anyone. even someone i dislike. hopefully this new experiment dies with this film
You're absolutely right, mentioning how much it cost to make was purely film production budget – I've update the post to reflect the additional costs unaccounted for previously. The film needs to double or more its production budget to be considered a success, you are right.
As for the film itself, I would have judged it far more harshly had Dan not created a more on-brand Predator flick with Prey 3 years ago. Prey satisfied the familiar cravings I had for a Predator film, while Badlands does open the door to more exploration. I got Predator 2 vibes more than anything with Badlands, which is fine by me. As a lifelong Yautja nerd I feel Trachtenberg balanced the scale by making Prey first and now the more lighthearted Badlands. It treads a fine line, but did so in a respectful way, imo.
Updated OP with latest figures ‐ Badlands has officially beaten AvP's opening weekend box office haul.
I anticipate an AvP coming sooner than later now after the hype around Badlands. I wonder if this is the reason for Romulus 2 production getting delayed, though...
It’s sooo good, I love how they both blended elements of the original Predator score into their various tracks. Sounded great and felt very on brand!
Oh my gosh, I was just listening to the soundtrack on Spotify, it's so good!!! 'Meet Thia' and 'The Alpha' are my favorite tracks so far.
New behind-the-scenes featurette from IGN called The Warrior's Journey:
This one is my favorite, by far. I would pay good money to see this Yautja made for a movie!
Crafting the Predator TV spot:
I love Elle so much, she is wonderful in the tv series 'The Great'. Looking forward to seeing her in this.
Update: My early screening had no swag 😔 not keychains even, and it was an IMAX theater 😒
Quite a bit more footage shown in this TV spot. I particularly like how this one was cut together:
And another TV spot featuring Tessa giving some taunting words to Dek:
Another movie clip was released:
Yeah maybe they're saving Abe for something special in the film, curious there's an absence of his acknowledgement in the credits. There was a lot of confusion with names and roles throughout this production as outlets reported on their set visits. Its been a nightmare to keep track of 😂
I saw that list on a Reddit post in both the Alien and Predator forums, and wondered if it was true, as they didn't link to the Disney site/page they said they took it from. Also Cameron hasn't confirmed anything himself either, but it does say he worked on the film in his stunt guild of New Zealand profile. I hope it's true and that he has a starring role, because it would be so cool for him, he seems like a really nice person and he's a great stuntman, i'm really happy for him and i'm sure the action scenes will be awesome. The drone synths look incredible and i've been looking forward to seeing them since I saw the first trailers. The only thing that bums me out from that list is there's no mention of the Synth named 'Abe' that the director talked about in a couple of interviews, perhaps that was cut or just a red herring, who knows.
Classic sibling rivalry 🤣 You’re right though I feel like it’s Tessa, the eyeball swap scene I thought was Thia but might be Tessa.
And yeah – the male Synths do look tall! I’m stoked to see the Synths in action.
I know, I’m actually surprised… hoping more voters pile in to sway sentiment cause the results don’t make sense so far lol…
Nah, Thia stays cool. That Synth in white is Tessa, you can tell by the hair, Thia has bangs and Tessa doesn't. Tessa's just angry her sister has a boyfriend, lol. Seriously, I read somewhere awhile back that Tessa isn't happy with Thia going on an adventure with Dek, so she's pursuing them to get Thia back to continue following the Company's orders. Side note, holy cow those Synth males are tall, Dek's actor is 6'8 or something like that and they look taller...
The results for this poll are very concerning.
