@hiveMUTHUR dude… exactly! been saying this exact thing for a long time… marketing hype around Badlands trying so hard to say it’s some major franchise success when it isn’t even a standalone Predator universe film. whether you like it or not it’s still a flop. thems just the facts.
Predator: Badlands is being shoe-horned into the conversation as some kind of hit, but the numbers tell a very different story. The film had a huge reported production budget of about $105 million and opened with a respectable franchise-record ~$40 million domestically and ~$80 million worldwide in its first weekend thanks to that broad PG-13 rating and the Alien crossover hype — yet as it ends it’s theatrical run it only grossed around ~$184 million worldwide total against that $105 million cost, which doesn’t come close to the ~2.5× multiple studios usually need to actually turn a profit in theaters after marketing costs and exhibitor splits are factored in
Now contrast that with what Alien: Romulus made for an estimated ~$80 million budget and pulling in over ~$350 million globally, proving that audiences will show up in massive numbers stand alone Alien film. So while Romulus, with its tighter budget and R-rated edge, leveraged quality and lore into serious box office muscle, Badlands leaned hard into crossover bait and PG-13 outreach and still couldn’t even sniff comparable returns. It’s a joke to call Badlands a success. Alien: Romulus ran circles around it with a smaller budget, bigger haul, and proof that even a Predator/Alien Universe mash-up couldn’t save this flick from underperforming.
Will we be getting any concept art of the Vultures?
I'm sure we will! Artists usually release their work gradually. I'm keeping an eye out for it!
Will we be getting any concept art of the Vultures?
I think one of people connection to predator is imagining if you had a big brother or companion of his statue ..so The next movie should explore this connection to draw to people's enthusiasm of this movie creature but taking on his own battles will make a decent movie.
Even though I am not an Anime guy I would watch that.
they changed the rating of the movie for more views.
Cameron as your role was multiplied does that mean your paid multiple times or do actors have to sign contracts ?
We're due for another AVP movie!
Literally everyone else who posts here that isn't an enthuseastic mid-teen better be nice and not try any gatekeeping bullshit.
Imagine watching a Yautja tear through a jungle while you’re chilling with a Skruf pouch cinema AND comfort. Way better than losing another gamble to RNG, that’s for sure 😂
Oh those! Makes sense, they’re like the gaming version of Yautja stamina boosts lol. I’ve used them a few times when I need a little focus during late-night movie marathons.
Insane, right? Meanwhile, I can’t even win a simple gambling session but this Yautja is out here speed-running records like nothing 😂
Bro, have you seen the numbers for The Badlands Yautja? $173 million already. Highest earning Predator movie ever dude literally spine-ripped the entire box office.
Well! Badlands managed to secure an additional $13.7 million over the last weekend! Nice little push after last week's lull. Great to see!
Yeah I think Berserker would win this battle.
Berserker no contest.
I'm sure there are many ways Disney could further explore Dek's story if not in live action. Not sure if I'd rather see his story expanded on in live action movies or in an animated series. Could feature in a Killer of Killers follow up.
I totally thought these were statues of Female Yautja 😆 Good to know what these are officially! Thanks for sharing this!
Another spot, showing a bit more of Dek's capture by Tessa and the Weyland-Yutani Synths:
Momentum seems to be slowing down for this one.
Another one, titled "Uncharted":
it's seems good,i'm gonna watch it as soon as possible..
These images are sweet. Dane Hallett is truly incredible.
Kind of glad but also sad about this at the same time. Haha
The arena guards looked great in live action!
fun movie but still can't beat alien!
This soundtrack is so good. Will it be released on physical?
When’s the release date for this?!?! Very excited for it and want to play it. Also what’s the cosmetics you can unlock?
As a longtime fan of the Predator franchise (as well as Alien and AVP), I make it a point to watch every new release in theaters. Experiencing these films on the big screen is truly unmatched.
What I’m most looking forward to this time is seeing the story told from the Predator’s (Yautja’s) perspective and watching the character of Dek evolve throughout his journey.
Going to the theater has always been a nostalgic experience for me—it’s more than just watching a movie. The simple joy of grabbing popcorn and a cola before the film starts is something I’ll always cherish. It’s unfortunate to see that experience slowly fading away.
Submitted mine with you last week, they're mostly about his Stunt career, but he was wonderful in the movie. Can't wait to read the interview, he's so kind to do this.
hello, do you know if the collaboration already ended? i logged in and saw nothing related to badlands in the maps
Just got back from seeing it, I really liked it but thought the ending felt rushed. The soundtrack and visuals were incredible (quite a few shots reminded me of The Lord of the Rings) and of course I loved the Synths and the lore we got about them and MUTHUR. The action scenes were great, and I really enjoyed the story.
I give it an 8/10. It reminded me of the comics in all the best ways.
Spoiler, but the whole last fight scene I had this song in my head, lol.
You're right! On my second viewing I spotted it – nice little Easter Egg!
Yes. It's a digitized light shaped rendering when Kwei is showing Dek the various planets to choose for a hunt in the first part of the movie.
Raptakis,And you're leaving out the part that filming in New Zealand gives 20th Century a 20% rebate. A safe bet would be a gross in the $260M world wide range, but it may end up needing less. And as a fan of Predator since the 80s, I prefer my Predator films to be blood soaked with more dreadlock flailing, plasma caster blasting, spine ripping Predators that include hardened soldiers spouting bad sex jokes and cocaine drug dealers. That said, the movie won me over at nearly every turn in spite of having everything I usually wouldn't want to see in a Predator film. But if it works it works and this film worked.
This comment ^ same same and same. It really did win me over as well. I will say though, and further emphasize my last point, I would probably have not been as forgiving or accepting if Trachtenberg had not proved himself as a competent Predator film director already with Prey – that one was far more inline with what we expect from a Predator movie. Having given us a taste of both sides of the Yautja spectrum, I feel like the meal was well balanced. Prey gives us what we expect and Badlands gives us what we don't expect. I'm all for more from Dan, whether its familiar, blood soaked dreadlock flairs or new adventures with Dek, Thia and Bud. I'm happy either way.
Vastly more forgiving than what happened with Alien Earth... 💀
Predator: Badlands is off to a record-breaking start, surpassing Alien vs. Predator’s franchise debut with $80 million globally. With strong domestic and international momentum, it’s shaping up as the most successful stand-alone Predator film to date. Analysts will be watching closely to see if it can challenge Alien: Romulus at the Box Office.
