How did Dek lose his fang / tusk? Many fans have noticed this unique detail of Dek’s early on when the very first teaser trailer for Predator: Badlands dropped, prompting many to wonder – why was Dek missing one of his tusks?
Dek protected Kwei
In Badlands, we learn that Dek lost his one fang by protecting his big brother Kwei. During the opening moments of the film, Kwei and Dek reminisce the events but don’t elaborate on the story or recall any specific details. Dek finds an old Yautja children's toy (the same one that explodes killing one of the Drone Hunter Synths later in the film) that Kwei keeps on his ship. Dek made a sacrifice to ensured his brother Kwei survived and remains permanently disfigured as a result. We can assume this was due to this "toy" and how it's used in Yautja rituals during their development.
This exchange really solidified the brotherly bond Kwei and Dek shared and also established Dek’s character as one that is tenacious, loyal and extremely brave.
