In Predator: Badlands, Dek had to construct his own armor using materials and local fauna on the planet of Genna after he lost his weapons and escaped capture by Tessa and Weyland-Yutani. To rescue Thia and save the mother Kalisk, Dek had to get resourceful and like a true hunter, utilize his environment to his advantage. This article details the different aspects which make up his Organic Armor and Weaponry.
Bone Bison Mask & Armor
Harvested off of a deceased Bone Bison, Dek crafted his own mask and chest plate using its thick exoskeleton hide. Nearly impenetrable, the Bone Bison armor protected Dek from energy based weapon fire, physical trauma and onslaught attacks. While it offers no technological aid like vision modes and targeting, it saved Dek's face from getting pulverized by Weyland-Yutani synthetics.
Forged Weapons
Vulture Teeth Wrist Blade
For weapons, Dek utilized the local fauna. Revisiting the dead Genna Vulture from earlier in the film, he harvested one of its teeth and affixed it to his arm. This acted as a substitute for the trademark Wrist Blade weapon Yautja are known for.
Squirt Shoulder Canon
For ranged weaponry, Dek made friends with one of the eel-like fauna native to Genna – nicknamed Squirt. Feeding Squirt created a pair bond and the little creature learned quickly what Dek needed of it. Fiercely loyal and extremely accurate with its acidic saliva, Squirt shoots bursts of acid towards Dek's enemies and even sacrifices itself to save Dek when targeted by Tessa's stolen Plasma Caster.
Exploding Bugs
Using these volatile caterpillars, Dek begins his onslaught against the Weyland-Yutani outpost by strategically placing clusters of these bugs across shipping containers. After luring the Drone Synths close enough, Dek uses Squirt to trigger the bugs and their explosions are enough to obliterate a large number of them.
While the organic armor was a temporary solution, it provided Dek an opportunity to think outside the box and fine tune his skills and improve his resourcefulness. Doing do made him a more adept Hunter, which prepared him for his final battle with his father.
