Not seen The Predator Yet!

Predator has to be Number 1 a Great Movie!

Then has to be Predator 2 which i thought was ok, but not really Great...

Predators and AVP are about similar to me.... but considering Canon, i would place Predators at Number 3.

Not seen The Predator Yet still.... cant be as bad as AVPR?

If I had to pick a top 3 it would be pretty clear since after that there's a huge drop off to me.

Predator rules. 2 and Predators weren't very good. The Predator was decent. AVP was better than 2 and 3 IMO.

The franchise ends there for me.

My top 3? Here goes...

#1 Predator - Take a small group, put 'em in an inescapable environment, and have 'em killed off one-by-one by an unseen force... It's basically Alien but in a jungle.

#2 Predator 2 - Needlessly louder, bloodier and much more foul-mouthed than its predecessor, with some strange casting choices, but somehow it all works.

#3 Predators - The premise started off well, and the casting was well suited, especially with Danny Trejo and Laurence Fishburne, and it added so much more to the mythology (hunting planets, inter-clan rivalries), it's just a shame it got too referential towards the end.

Sorry Chris, gotta disagree with you here, recycling may be good for the environment, but it ain't when it comes to movies, especially when its just rehashing ideas that didn't stick the first time around. Still Sterling Brown should win awards for both his performance (seems to be the only actor that wanted to be there) and for the dumbest death committed to film. IMO AvP:R is now the second worst Predator movie.

For me, my list goes as follows:

1st: PREDATOR - Nothing beats the original.

2nd: PREDATOR 2 - Maintained proper atmosphere, plotline and introduced new mythology.

3rd: THE PREDATOR - Despite some faults, felt more like a Predator film than PREDATORS and both AvP films. The Predator was still a bag guy and the creature effects were far better than the Preds seen in AvP and AvPR. Also - no Adrian Brody, which was a definite plus. I personally, preferred the cast and pacing and effects of THE PREDATOR to PREDATORS, placing it in my top 3 and third spot.

Predator is my favorite movie. I loved the characters. Kevin Peter Hall's portrayal of the first Yautja was brilliant. I was also very young when the first Predator movie came out and was as best as I can remember terrified by the effort of creature effects that are still to this day inventive and next to none.

I think whats interesting with the Concept of Area 52 is it shows that we have a Predator who is willing to work with Human Scientist/Military in Improving the Technology of our Military Weapons.

Funny you bring that up.. because during the Production of The Predator, i was interpreting the Plot as maybe showing us Humans had Captured Predators in some AREA 51 like place, and then Re-Engineered their Technology, but then some Predators Escape (Embassy Predators)  and we would have a Predators with Human Tech VS Military with Predator Tech..

I think that would have been interesting...

But as more got released about the Movie and the Trailers it kind of put such a Plot Interpretation to Bed!

The Technology is what set the Predators apart.. without it they was just a 7-8ft Humanoid, that would have the Strength that would be like a Adult 6ft 180-190lb Male vs a 6-8 year old Child.

Give that Child a Samurai Sword or a Assault Riffle and that changes the Disadvantage completely.

BigDave the second mask seems inspired by the Enclave Power armor from Fallout... How about the predator on a Mad Max inspired world,  without cloaking abilities...

The ones aboard the Ship are interesting as they show some of the Hybrids the Predators have, the Plot for The Predator (Race who go around Genetically Altering Life and trying to obtain traits to Evolve themselves). Does mirror the Engineers Plot a little.

And the Markings on the Urns of Black Goo do have that Predator Yautja look about them.

Something that a AVP Reboot could expand upon!

Always love looking through concept art for these films, although I wish the film actually shared some of these visuals. Too often, great artwork goes unused.

Figure looks better than the Predator did in the movie...

Ive mentioned this before... but these are very good for NECA brand, a lot of detail for the Price.  NECA do offer Fans a chance to collect figures for those who dont have the Space for many 12" Figures or the Finances for them (likes of HOT-TOYS)

Pretty Sure for those who can Afford a Hot-Toys Predator you could Customize one by using the companies Military Figures Spares with a bit of customizing to Create Embassy Predators ;)

The eyes of that first Predator remind me of the AR Newborn for some reason...

Some Neat Idea's...

We would have to ask WHY does certain Aesthetics from the Predator repeat in these though? IF we are looking at Natural Occurrence as in this is how LIFE Developed on the Predator World... we then ask WHAT Evolutionary Advantage does the Mandible Teeth and Dread Locks have?

Or WHY would the Predators Engineer Species like this to have them?

But ALAS... the True Answer is they LOOK Cool and are to allow us to make a connection that these are Creatures the Predators Created/Engineered or that they are Creatures that came from the same World as the Predators.

NECA figures are amazing.

My entire collection is Alien but I have 1 figure from Predator, Ahab. The new Predator figures are very tempting but NECA's new Alien 3 figures are 1st in line on my wish list.

I don't think that the fugitive was trying to give us the suit in the slightest. Here's my theory..

To start. I think the fugitive had human DNA because he was a test subject. Since we know the yutja have a hard time breathing our atmosphere. It was an attempt to make them adaptable to our planet or take the best parts of our Gene's. Because, if you noticed, the ultimate predator that chases him down has been genetically modified and is extremely fast, JUST like the odd blue alien the fugitives killed in "predators" (referencing his legs and how they're bent backwards like the other alien killed). The yutja are genetically enhancing themselves with the best parts of the DNA of they're most formidable prey. 

Secondly. I think the fugitive predator was from the lower class predators, as we learned in "predators" there are predators, and super predators(notably dark skinned and have red eyes). I think he stole the predator killer suit from the super predators in an attempt to share it with the lower classes and fight back against the supers. However he was caught and persued. And escaped to earth since earth is known territory to the lesser class, AND humans have proven themselves to be formidable foes. 

As far as the suit goes. I think its symbiotic. It attaches and modifies itself to the first being it comes in contact with. Kinda like how the xenomorph change depending on the creature the face hugger attaches too. Hence why the suit was human sized. Also look at that pod. There's not just one suit in there. You could fit a hundred of those gauntlets in that pod. And your assuming with the advanced yutja tech that it isn't some kind of foundry. Insert raw material, extract predator killer suit. Personally I'm leaning towards bio-tech because of the black goo. I think they're grown. So insert biological material. Extract predator killer

I think I covered everything as far as my theories go. 

For a Neca Figure there is a lot of Detail, which you can do with a near 12" Figure. Looks Good.

I have also been thinking of how the alien franchise could continue. It's been fourty years after Alien 1 was released. The sequels were directed by top directors. And the franchise is still alive. Four decades and there are still sequels, games and comics. There are other film series which didn't get much care. What I think won't happen is a reboot. The first film is a classic. They won't be able to create the same cult status with a reboot. So they continue to make sequels and spin-offs (AvP). It's like Star Wars. You don't make a reboot of the first film. You leave it alone and create sequels that have similar elements and feel like a reboot. That's why there will be a continuation of Alien Covenant and maybe also one that takes place after Alien 4.

Disney needs to sell this franchise to a company that would take better care of it, perhaps Legendary or Universal.

Pretty Interesting Concept!

It would have been interesting to explore a Predator Home-world but its a case of do Disney new feel there would be little interest in any sequels considering the Disappointment of The Predator... so this Franchise is in a bit of a Pickle like the ALIEN Franchise.

Disney seem to like there Pop-corn Super Hero Genre... and for them maybe a AVP Reboot is the way forwards.

I think its interesting... but its a worry they seem to think every Organism they throw at us, has that Predator Mandible look to them as if this is a DOMINATING trait on said WORLD.

It fits more with a Plot of the Predators having so much pride in their own DNA, that they attempted to Engineer Organisms using their own DNA.   This potentially does sound a bit close to the Engineers Plot however.... but i guess this is where they could exploit a Cross-Over.

Well the ALIEN Universe could have been HUGE... with the Plot of Prometheus.... but Alien Covenant comes along and closes many of those doors by Virtue of the Engineers/Gods being right on our Door Step!

In fairness it should be noted - Gojiverse existed before them all. It was first monsterverse with monsters from another movies.

I've said it before,but Marvel has ruined cinema,before you cast stones at me i actually like the MCU for the most part.But thanks to them nothing is simple anymore.Every thing has to be a cinematic universe.Marvel,DC,Star Wars,Godzilla,The aforementioned ill fated Dark universe and Amazing Spider-Man'verse.Pacific Rim wants in on it,as did Ghostbusters as well as A Stephen King universe.We have the Conjuring universe,A Spider-Man universe with out Spider-Man started by Venom.

These are just off the top of my head,nothing is simple anymore.A movie can no longer stand on it's own two feet without being part of a bigger picture,and it seems Alien and most definitely Predator here aren't safe from it.

They're paying waaay to much attention to Disney Star Wars which went in to please fans by putting Han Luke and Leia back on the big screen.Funny imitation too considering that despite extreme positive critic reception,they have been just as divisive as the prequels.

Why Alien and predator need to go down this route is beyond me.As I said it worked for Blade Runner,and other sci fi series have seen great revivals such as Planet of the Apes and Mad Max.Apes and Max are great examples because they didn't depend on the past or favorite actors.Blade Runner 2049 while a sequel to the original didn't depend on Harrison Ford who doesn't show up till the final act anyway.All fine examples of accepting the past while embracing the future.

This is pretty cool.... but it looks far too much like some Xenomorph Hybrid (Face Hugger) than Predator... it seems they spent a lot of emphasis on connecting to ALIEN DNA which is a shame!
