^The PG-13 Black Christmas remake is probably gonna suck, too. WTF were they thinking?

BigDave: wrong, The Walking Dead is TV-MA, the TV equivalent of an R rating.

And sure, let's water down something that's R-rated at its very core... because it worked so well for RoboCop, Terminator, AvP, Expendables, Mad Max (Mad Max 3), Total Recall, Prom Night, Rollerball, DareDevil and Ghost Rider, right?

Anytime Hollywood kiddifies something that should be R, it never ends well and is usually a disaster.

I think this certainly would suit Disney who would want to get the TV Series to be viewed my more People....

When looking at THE PREDATOR there is really not much that would make this NOT a PG-13, there was NOT a lot of Gore in that Movie and so some of it Toned Down would FIT a PG-13....   If Most of the Swearing and Rude Jokes/Banter was also taken out then i think that The Predator could have passed for a PG-13

Saying that though in the USA they have a TV-14 Certification which is what The Walking Dead series has been rated at, and that contains quite a LOT of Gore.

If the Predator TV Series has a Similar Rating then i think Provided its Well Written and Executed then it could work...... we DONT need to see Over the Top Gore or Buckets of F-Bombs for a Predator Series to Work, or Nudity and Sex.

And so a TV-14 Rating would allow for the Violence with some Gore.  I assume a TV-14 is NOT far off a PG-13?

Ugh, no PG-13 Predator. He's a fucking beast with BLADES on his hand who literally skins people alive!

And I don't think PG-13 lets you get away with as much as some people think it does. Friendly reminder that BvS UE got an R rating just for showing a body getting burned and a little more blood, and the first Avengers initially got an R rating just for the scene with Loki stabbing Coulson in the back with his scepter yet people act like they can get away with endless amounts of anything as long as there's no gore, nudity, sex or repeated F bombs. @DK @MonsterZero

Luckily We Got This Covered isn't a credible source for anything, so there's no truth to any of this.

If it's half as good as the 'Mandalorian'....it'll be great!

I have Disney + and really looking forward to all these series....Obi-Wan and now the Predator!? Not to mention all the Marvel stuff........AND maybe Alien!

I don't need to see the gore...my imagination can fill in the gaps...so PG-13 could work...UNLESS they bring in children and make it some kiddie plot.

I'll wait until we here who is the production team before really forming an opinion.

The PG 13 rating might not be bad. After all, what was R in the 80s seems pretty tame these days. I don't have Disney, but it will be interesting to see how it goes. Maybe they are testing the waters and using Predator as a guinea pig.

BigDavePredator: Badlands NewsDisney is planning to reboot the Predator movie franchise

I think the PLOT to The Predator was not BAD as far as a Synopsis, the Execution was POOR though...

I actually thought Predators was Decent, i have Gone-Off the Sequel (Predator 2) a bit..  while i still think its Decent...

I feel Predator was almost a Perfect Movie, i dont think it needs a Reboot at all.   We could have Alternative Sequels to that Movie that are Set 2-5 years after, and are Secret Missions that are Covered up..

I also think we could have a Predator Movie that is SET in the Future.... WHY-NOT!  ....  2035, 2065... or even 2095 etc

I dont think they should REBOOT the Franchise... but knowing Disney i would NOT be Surprised.

I Raptus

>>while failing to establish any type of progressive storyline.<<

I think this is a huge plus. The absence of a through storyline / character allows to create a variety of stories, avoiding the analogy with Ripley and the "legacy" of the previous parts. Any sequel with dubious elements can be cancelled without consequences.

>>Super-predators wanting to destroy humanity angle<<

No. This is just a generic sci-fi plot about alien invasion. Predator should remain just an athlete-hunter, a collector of skulls.

Unfortunately every Predator film since the original feels like a reboot, (for the most part) ignoring previous installments, rehashing over elements that worked, while failing to establish any type of progressive storyline. Its the same concept over and over again.

The original Predator should have either been entirely standalone....and would have been a cult classic built around the ambiguity and mystery of that one time Yautja incursion.

Or developed with an actual plot in mind. Something that raised the stakes of Predator incursions towards an actual end-goal.

In fairness Predators was a step in the right direction. It gave us something new, and expanded the buildworlding of the franchise, while also giving us new characters with some continuity that could have been pursued further. But it failed to raise the stakes in any meaningful way, probably less so as it was on another planet.

The Predator has erased that thread, while admirably trying to raise the stakes with the whole Super-predators wanting to destroy humanity angle. But then self-imploded with the ridiculous Ironman Anti-Predator suit that entirely undid everything the film attempt to do.

Good luck Disney. If you take this route plan it well.

The last movie wasn't very good over all. I doubt Disney can do better except for special effects to be fair.

After further review, I would rank:

1. Predator

2. Predator 2

3. AVP

The others are movies I will likely never watch again- utterly forgettable except for taunting/heckling purposes.

@Xenotaris So does that mean that this Yaut'ja is a bad blood considering his trophies? Granted, we don't know the age of either of the twins, but from what it looks like, both are probably around 16(ish), so he just killed two children.

@Gmkgoji This was an awesome fight. Thanks for this.

That's funny. But it's not quite as surprising than finding out that someone has actually sat through this movie at least 50 times!

On the matter of subliminal messages... I was gobsmacked in a pub quiz this week when I failed to notice the logo for the Tyrell Corporation in Blade Runner. I thought I knew everything important about this movie. For your edification, here is the logo, in all its glory, emblazoned on Tyrell's robe:

Also Yaut'ja are forbidden (unless they are a Bad Blood):

To steal kills

To kill children prey

To kill pregnant female prey

To kill elderly prey

To kill unarmed prey

Its forbidden for young bloods to blood themselves or others

To allow clan weaponry or any yaut'ja tech to fall in the hands of primitives

To keep trophies of Predaliens, since Predaliens are seen as abominations and the remains of a predalien must be destroyed.

To hunt something weaker than you

To kill worthy prey with blasters rather than melee combat

The Yaut'ja have a caste-system, everyone one has a rank and must hunt to rise through the rank. Females rarely join hunts and usually there for breeding however angry female is not to be trifled with.

Untouchable: Basically slaves, usually cowards who abandoned their first hunt are placed in this rank.

Outcast: Not really a rank but these are yaut'ja who turn themselves in after committing dishonor, these yaut'ja will usually have a chance to redeem themselves should they survive their exile.

Bad Bloods: Fugitives, murderers, and thieves; basically criminal yaut'ja.

Unblood: Basically any Yaut'ja who is a baby to preadolescence.

Young Blood: A recently blooded teenage Yaut'ja who survived their first hunt to be blooded by their clan elder. For a young blood to blood themselves or blood anyone is considered to dishonorable and will be outcast from yaut'ja society or at worse be labeled as a bad blood.

Blooded: Basically a young blood but older, wiser, and has several hunts under his belt.

Honorable: Essentially the elite warrior-hunters of Yaut'Ja

Elder: The leaders of Yaut'ja society

Arbitrator: They hunt down bad bloods

I didn't mind Reqiuem, I really hated the first one because it is absolutely dumb and doesn't respect the source material. Requiem actually 'tried' to use the source material

Anyways I really enjoy the Alien/Predator expanded universe from the comics and video games

Eh, well I wont argue about Spinosaur's personality nor the Indoraptor's.

I know a good deal about the predator's culture via reading the old AVP comics and their tie-in novels, some really cool stuff. The AVP movie I feel could have been really cool if they 1) didn't hire that idiot Paul W S Anderson and 2) made it closer to the Dark Horse Comic's story.

I'm thinking of making an Alien(Prometheus)/Predator fanfiction later after I'm done with the Gojiverse

Curious, how would a Yaut'ja grin? He doesn't have any lips. I guess he flares his mandibles?

But wouldn't the Yaut'ja discard his plasma caster after she lost her bow?

I was rooting for the Yaut'ja, sorry. I'm a semi-expert on Yaut'ja culture
