That's funny. But it's not quite as surprising than finding out that someone has actually sat through this movie at least 50 times!
On the matter of subliminal messages... I was gobsmacked in a pub quiz this week when I failed to notice the logo for the Tyrell Corporation in Blade Runner. I thought I knew everything important about this movie. For your edification, here is the logo, in all its glory, emblazoned on Tyrell's robe:

Also Yaut'ja are forbidden (unless they are a Bad Blood):
To steal kills
To kill children prey
To kill pregnant female prey
To kill elderly prey
To kill unarmed prey
Its forbidden for young bloods to blood themselves or others
To allow clan weaponry or any yaut'ja tech to fall in the hands of primitives
To keep trophies of Predaliens, since Predaliens are seen as abominations and the remains of a predalien must be destroyed.
To hunt something weaker than you
To kill worthy prey with blasters rather than melee combat
The Yaut'ja have a caste-system, everyone one has a rank and must hunt to rise through the rank. Females rarely join hunts and usually there for breeding however angry female is not to be trifled with.
Untouchable: Basically slaves, usually cowards who abandoned their first hunt are placed in this rank.
Outcast: Not really a rank but these are yaut'ja who turn themselves in after committing dishonor, these yaut'ja will usually have a chance to redeem themselves should they survive their exile.
Bad Bloods: Fugitives, murderers, and thieves; basically criminal yaut'ja.
Unblood: Basically any Yaut'ja who is a baby to preadolescence.
Young Blood: A recently blooded teenage Yaut'ja who survived their first hunt to be blooded by their clan elder. For a young blood to blood themselves or blood anyone is considered to dishonorable and will be outcast from yaut'ja society or at worse be labeled as a bad blood.
Blooded: Basically a young blood but older, wiser, and has several hunts under his belt.
Honorable: Essentially the elite warrior-hunters of Yaut'Ja
Elder: The leaders of Yaut'ja society
Arbitrator: They hunt down bad bloods
yeah, my original profile picture was a dilophosaurus
As I can tell from your profile pic... and your name lol
I didn't mind Reqiuem, I really hated the first one because it is absolutely dumb and doesn't respect the source material. Requiem actually 'tried' to use the source material
Anyways I really enjoy the Alien/Predator expanded universe from the comics and video games
I heard the first one's just dumb fun... but the second... never heard anything not horrible about that one...
the avp movie are a waste of time
I haven't seen the movies, but I plan on watching them this year or next.
Eh, well I wont argue about Spinosaur's personality nor the Indoraptor's.
I know a good deal about the predator's culture via reading the old AVP comics and their tie-in novels, some really cool stuff. The AVP movie I feel could have been really cool if they 1) didn't hire that idiot Paul W S Anderson and 2) made it closer to the Dark Horse Comic's story.
I'm thinking of making an Alien(Prometheus)/Predator fanfiction later after I'm done with the Gojiverse
That was in comparison to a smiling Dinosaur... that's like favoring the JP3 Spinosaurus over an evil Barney lol
well you did talk favorable of Jurassic Park III, saying the spinosaurus had personality
Xenotaris
What gave me away? XD
Knew it would be no contest from the beginning but an interesting fight.
had a feeling your favorite dinosaur was a Spinosaurus
A Xenomorph an expert in Predator cultures? That's like a fish's favorite Dinosaur being a Spinosaurus!!! Oh wait...
Curious, how would a Yaut'ja grin? He doesn't have any lips. I guess he flares his mandibles?
But wouldn't the Yaut'ja discard his plasma caster after she lost her bow?
I was rooting for the Yaut'ja, sorry. I'm a semi-expert on Yaut'ja culture
I knew Predator would win... was still rooting for Maina at the same time though lol. Nice job on the fight!
I think this could make a Interesting Multi-Player Game.
We could even have MORE of the Predators provided the Ratio is say Max of ONE per 6 Humans?
Think there is scope for Different Predators with different Traits/Equipment and Special Abilities such as the USE of Predator Hounds.
Nice! The forum discussed a similar idea with the Xeno a year or so ago. This looks really good.
"Not seen The Predator Yet still.... cant be as bad as AVPR?"
Not as bad, but not much better, kids can watch it too. Disney friendly.
Not seen The Predator Yet!
Predator has to be Number 1 a Great Movie!
Then has to be Predator 2 which i thought was ok, but not really Great...
Predators and AVP are about similar to me.... but considering Canon, i would place Predators at Number 3.
Not seen The Predator Yet still.... cant be as bad as AVPR?
Predator
Predators
The Predator
Predator 2
If I had to pick a top 3 it would be pretty clear since after that there's a huge drop off to me.
1. Predator
2. Predator 2
3. AVP
Predator
Predator 2
Predators
Predator rules. 2 and Predators weren't very good. The Predator was decent. AVP was better than 2 and 3 IMO.
1. Predator
2. Predator 2
3. Predators
The franchise ends there for me.
My top 3? Here goes...
#1 Predator - Take a small group, put 'em in an inescapable environment, and have 'em killed off one-by-one by an unseen force... It's basically Alien but in a jungle.
#2 Predator 2 - Needlessly louder, bloodier and much more foul-mouthed than its predecessor, with some strange casting choices, but somehow it all works.
#3 Predators - The premise started off well, and the casting was well suited, especially with Danny Trejo and Laurence Fishburne, and it added so much more to the mythology (hunting planets, inter-clan rivalries), it's just a shame it got too referential towards the end.
Sorry Chris, gotta disagree with you here, recycling may be good for the environment, but it ain't when it comes to movies, especially when its just rehashing ideas that didn't stick the first time around. Still Sterling Brown should win awards for both his performance (seems to be the only actor that wanted to be there) and for the dumbest death committed to film. IMO AvP:R is now the second worst Predator movie.
For me, my list goes as follows:
1st: PREDATOR - Nothing beats the original.
2nd: PREDATOR 2 - Maintained proper atmosphere, plotline and introduced new mythology.
3rd: THE PREDATOR - Despite some faults, felt more like a Predator film than PREDATORS and both AvP films. The Predator was still a bag guy and the creature effects were far better than the Preds seen in AvP and AvPR. Also - no Adrian Brody, which was a definite plus. I personally, preferred the cast and pacing and effects of THE PREDATOR to PREDATORS, placing it in my top 3 and third spot.

Really enjoyed the look of the Fugitive Predator.
The finest line from the movie
Rory -"I'm sorry I did not increase, up like you wanted me to" Random action hero dad - "Its okay son! I Didn't either"
The best action sequence in the movie
Traitor predator wakes up from slumber in the sci-fi lab until the nude scene.
Predator is my favorite movie. I loved the characters. Kevin Peter Hall's portrayal of the first Yautja was brilliant. I was also very young when the first Predator movie came out and was as best as I can remember terrified by the effort of creature effects that are still to this day inventive and next to none.
I think whats interesting with the Concept of Area 52 is it shows that we have a Predator who is willing to work with Human Scientist/Military in Improving the Technology of our Military Weapons.
Ha Ha, that would be interesting...
Funny you bring that up.. because during the Production of The Predator, i was interpreting the Plot as maybe showing us Humans had Captured Predators in some AREA 51 like place, and then Re-Engineered their Technology, but then some Predators Escape (Embassy Predators) and we would have a Predators with Human Tech VS Military with Predator Tech..
I think that would have been interesting...
But as more got released about the Movie and the Trailers it kind of put such a Plot Interpretation to Bed!
The Technology is what set the Predators apart.. without it they was just a 7-8ft Humanoid, that would have the Strength that would be like a Adult 6ft 180-190lb Male vs a 6-8 year old Child.
Give that Child a Samurai Sword or a Assault Riffle and that changes the Disadvantage completely.
