Tonight I am thrilled to unveil a number of alternative designs for the Viking Predator that went unused in the Predator: Killer of Killers anime created by the immensely talented Dane Hallett! Dane has graciously let us reveal this never before-seen concept art he created for the Predator anime and also gave us some insight to the reasons behind their unique characteristics. Previously, we debuted unseen concept art Dane created for the Hulk Predator, which showed an alternative to the massive Yautja the Vikings encountered. Like the Hulk Predator, these Viking Predator concepts were also massive versions of the classic Hunter - sporting more primitive weaponry and you'll notice in some of the designs - lacking dreadlocks. The reason for the lack of dreadlocks? Since Predators often prefer to hunt in warmer climates, Dane figured the extreme cold would likely affect their biology and they would begin to suffer health complications. One such complication could be that their dreads would fall out - a plausible and likely consequence. Other impacts of prolonged cold exposure included closed-over eyes:

Another design was inspired by the overgrown skull seen in the Trophy Room of the Lost Tribe in Predator 2, this next one is my personal favorite of the bunch:

The last alternative version for the Viking Predator pictured the Yautja with its dreadlocks and both eyes, but with additional horns protruding from its head. The Tiger-like colour palette is also a nice touch:

You have to appreciate the level of thought and consideration Dane brings to his designs. Minus the events of Alien vs. Predator and Killer of Killers, we really have not seen the prolonged effects of cold climates on Yautja. It's an intriguing detail to consider and one that might someday get fleshed out more.
Another major thank you to Dane Hallett for letting us reveal these interesting concepts! If you're not already doing so, follow Dane on Instagram and like his Facebook page! You can also visit his official website too to see more of his work.
