Predator: Badlands box office total sits at just over $160 million after its 3rd weekend

Momentum is slowing down for Dan Trachtenberg's third Predator movie. The film has made $160.2 million globally on a budget of $105 million.

Predator: Badlands box office total sits at just over $160 million after its 3rd weekend

Predator: Badlands is now taking trophies at the Box Office! But how does it compare to other entires in the franchise? Can it beat Alien? This article tracks the latest Box Office updates for Dan Trachtenberg's Predator: Badlands. As new figures are released weekly, new totals and milestones will be added to this post! See how Badlands stacks up against other entries in the Predator franchise and beyond!

Box Office Updates:

  • As of Sunday, November 9th, tallying Thursday night previews, Friday's opening night showings and Saturday's second day at the box office, Predator: Badlands officially surpasses the previous franchise record held by 2004's Alien vs. Predator, without an impressive $40 million so far! AvP previously held the record with $38.2 million.
  • Global Box Office sits at $80 million collectively.
  • Updated totals as of November 13th, 2025: Global take now at $88.5 million with 44.3% coming from overseas markets.
  • Second weekend at the box office saw Predator: Badlands only generate $13 million, falling to 3rd place after The Running Man reboot and Now You See Me: Now You Don't released in competition. International markets pull ahead slightly, accounting for 51.4% of the revenue split. Global total sits at $136.3 million.
  • After its third weekend at the box office, Badlands now sits at $160.2 million, with $76.5 million of that coming from domestic markets.

Thia and Dek in Badlands

Badlands Opening Night

The third Yautja tale from Trachtenberg hit the ground running! Dek and Thia managed to breathe some life into a relatively dormant Hollywood Box Office. After abysmal earnings throughout the entire month of October, Badlands managed to track down and hunt a healthy $15.6 million during its opening day on Friday, November 7th, 2025! At the current pace, analysts anticipate the film could surpass $30 million in its first weekend – which would posture it highly, nearly being the most successful entry in the series since 2004's Alien vs. Predator which raked in $38 million during its debut weekend.

First Week Results – Couldn't beat Alien: Romulus

Nearing the end of Badlands' first week in theaters and the film has lost some of its initial momentum – current totals place the global take now at just over $88.5 million, with nearly $40 million of that coming from overseas.

Turns out Alien beats Predator – Alien: Romulus still holds the crown for top-grossing film post Disney acquisition but it's mostly due to Alien's greater appeal overseas – thanks to China, Romulus earned a little over $108 million – domestically besting Badlands by only $1.5 million.

First Weekend Totals

UPDATE: Predator: Badlands only saw a 10% drop in revenue on its second night at the box office! Adding to the $15.6 million on Friday November 7th, Saturday saw the film take another big bite out of the box office pie with an impressive $14 million follow-up! The domestic total sits at $40 million – making Badlands officially the most successful theatrical debut of the franchise!

Globally, Badlands has doubled that figure to $80 million when incorporating international markets!

Second Weekend – Revenue dips by 67.5%

For its second weekend at the box office, Badlands faced some stiffer competition – both the sci-fi reboot of The Running Man and the new Now You See Me sequel both landed in theaters, taking a chunk of the box office revenue share. Badlands officially fell to third place, generating only an extra $13 million over the course of its second Friday, Saturday and Sunday haul.

The global total now sits at $136.3 million, with $66.3 million of that being domestic. International markets have pulled ahead slightly, accounting for the remaining $70 million.

Third Weekend – Crosses $160 million

After its third weekend at the International box office, Badlands has officially earned approximately $160.2 million in total at the global box office. Domestic totals account for $76.5 million of that figure. Momentum is certainly slowing down, making the $250-300 million target unlikely.

How much did Predator: Badlands cost to make?

Disney reportedly spent only $105 million to produce Predator: Badlands – that's $17 million more than it cost to produce 2018's The Predator. The figure does not include marketing budgets and additional fees. For Badlands to be considered a financial success, it needs to double its production cost at least. Anywhere from $250-$300 million will solidify this film a slam dunk for Disney.

How Does Badlands Stack up to other Predator movies?

How does Dek and Thia's adventure compare to other entries in the franchise? Unfortunately Dan Trachtenberg's Prey never got its fair shot at a Box Office run, but 2018's The Predator did. Back then, it only made $10.4 million during its first Friday at the Box Office – competing with The Nun. Badlands made close to $4.5 million in preview night showings – nearly double what The Predator earned during its preview night sales ($2.5 million).

So far, Predator: Badlands is shaping up to be the most successful stand-alone Predator film in the franchise!

Can Predator beat Alien?

While Predator: Badlands is gaining tremendous praise, healthy enthusiasm and significant momentum from avid fans and casual moviegoers alike, it appears the battle at the Box Office still favors the Acid-bleeding Xenomorph. Fede Alvarez's Alien: Romulus earned an impressive $42 million during its debut weekend back in August, 2024! Badlands will have to plant some serious butts in the cinema if it hopes to beat Alien's last entry.

I just got back from the theater. It was ok. Not the best, not the worst. One thing that threw me off a little was the heavier comedic element. The tone shifted a lot too, as they bounced around from action, to horror, to comedy, to an environmental theme, then overlay that with the bad corporation thing, the AI is dangerous thing, & the buddy team up part that looked & felt a little like Star Wars & Guardians of the Galaxy by the end...wow, just all over the map.

$105 million to make. you left out the advertainment cost and memorabilia which thats about another $80 million, so the film it self needs to make around 220 million " give or take " to be considered profitable. to make it successful, it needs to make about 300 million. if your a predator fan like myself your not really happy with this film. even the comics did it better. this film i wouldnt recommend to anyone. even someone i dislike. hopefully this new experiment dies with this film

You're absolutely right, mentioning how much it cost to make was purely film production budget – I've update the post to reflect the additional costs unaccounted for previously. The film needs to double or more its production budget to be considered a success, you are right.

As for the film itself, I would have judged it far more harshly had Dan not created a more on-brand Predator flick with Prey 3 years ago. Prey satisfied the familiar cravings I had for a Predator film, while Badlands does open the door to more exploration. I got Predator 2 vibes more than anything with Badlands, which is fine by me. As a lifelong Yautja nerd I feel Trachtenberg balanced the scale by making Prey first and now the more lighthearted Badlands. It treads a fine line, but did so in a respectful way, imo.

Raptakis,
And you're leaving out the part that filming in New Zealand gives 20th Century a 20% rebate. A safe bet would be a gross in the $260M world wide range, but it may end up needing less.

And as a fan of Predator since the 80s, I prefer my Predator films to be blood soaked with more dreadlock flailing, plasma caster blasting, spine ripping Predators that include hardened soldiers spouting bad sex jokes and cocaine drug dealers. That said, the movie won me over at nearly every turn in spite of having everything I usually wouldn't want to see in a Predator film. But if it works it works and this film worked.

Predator: Badlands is off to a record-breaking start, surpassing Alien vs. Predator’s franchise debut with $80 million globally. With strong domestic and international momentum, it’s shaping up as the most successful stand-alone Predator film to date. Analysts will be watching closely to see if it can challenge Alien: Romulus at the Box Office.

This comment ^ same same and same. It really did win me over as well. I will say though, and further emphasize my last point, I would probably have not been as forgiving or accepting if Trachtenberg had not proved himself as a competent Predator film director already with Prey – that one was far more inline with what we expect from a Predator movie. Having given us a taste of both sides of the Yautja spectrum, I feel like the meal was well balanced. Prey gives us what we expect and Badlands gives us what we don't expect. I'm all for more from Dan, whether its familiar, blood soaked dreadlock flairs or new adventures with Dek, Thia and Bud. I'm happy either way.

Vastly more forgiving than what happened with Alien Earth... 💀

Just got back from seeing it, I really liked it but thought the ending felt rushed. The soundtrack and visuals were incredible (quite a few shots reminded me of The Lord of the Rings) and of course I loved the Synths and the lore we got about them and MUTHUR. The action scenes were great, and I really enjoyed the story.

I give it an 8/10. It reminded me of the comics in all the best ways.

Spoiler, but the whole last fight scene I had this song in my head, lol.

Momentum seems to be slowing down for this one.
