Dan Trachtenberg is obsessed with Predator - and we can't blame him. The Prey director brought fourth 2 Yautja films this year - Predator: Killer of Killers anime which just released on Disney+ and Predator: Badlands which arrives in theaters this November. But, that's not all! Trachtenberg has revealed to SFX that he essentially rushed production on the anime and Baldands so he could get to a secret, third Predator project he's planned since Prey!

"After Prey came out, and I started thinking about sequel stuff, there were three ideas that I had. Killers is one, Badlands is two and the third one is something else," the filmmaker says in the new issue of SFX magazine, which features Star Trek: Strange New Worlds on the cover and hits newsstands on Wednesday, June 18. "The reason why I felt possessed to make them and sort of why I rushed – I did two at once because I could do, I could multitask with animation – was because I was so eager to get to the third thing."
He goes on to say he's eager to get working on this new third Predator project once Baldands is finished, but is reluctant to give anymore details on what this new project is.
Now, while this third untitled project remains a mystery... Dan was quoted recently expressing his desire to continue Naru's story from Prey in a follow-up sequel - conditional on if the anime was successful - and it has been. Whether or not that means this next project is going to be Prey 2, we don't yet know for sure, however. It could also very well be working on the Alien vs. Predator reboot that's been quietly in the works at 20th Century Studios.

Whatever it is, it sounds like Trachtenberg wants to push the limits, deep diving into Yautja lore to really flesh out the character as much as he can.
More details should become available as we near Fall of this year.
