They do all look pretty badass!
Has he in fact, dissed or indicated that he's ignoring Predator 2?
Wait so Hawkins was alive all this time? Lol, awesome, I can't wait.
"shit happens"
I love how they show a bunch of badass marines holding guns with stern faces while there is a dopey kid in the centre of them with a bright yellow jacket.
Little different group compared to that of '87, especially in terms of pound-for-pound muscle. :-)

- GO TO THE CHOPPA!!!
Too much about this sequel really is concerning, and hell I hated the frack outta PREDATORS!
There's something out there waiting for us, and it ain't no man. We're all gonna die.

"This stuff will make you a god damn sexual tyrannosaurus, just like me"
-Blane AKA Jesse Ventura. Predator
"Hey, Harrigan! More victims, more mutilations!"
-Tony Pope in Predator 2
Yeah way too early to have any real concerns since we haven't really seen anything yet. Even if the first trailer doesn't blow me away I wouldn't write the movie off completely since the A:C trailer didn't really impress me, but I'm still looking forward to the movie.
@Gavin, you bring up fair concerns, of course, but as Dr Curt Connors pointed out, the same could be said for many films recently. Writers don't always produce the best content, but sometimes they get it right. Same goes for actors - when I first heard Danny McBride would star in Alien: Covenant I was taken back a bit, but after seeing the trailer, I get the vibe he will do a great job in his role.
As for the plot direction - it's new, but it also taps into the lore we experienced with as you mentioned, Concrete Jungle - which I loved playing as a kid.
Until I see a trailer, I will keep my judgement to a minimum. We haven't seen anything yet.
Well, I am worried because is fragmented and confused. I mean, the cast seems okay at least. I don't anything about Holbrook really, I think Munn is a solid actress, and Tremblay is alright himself. Also, Key seems to be an odd addition to the cast, but damn he is skilled and talented as an actor, so I don't see a problem on his end. Only thing would be if they didn't write a character that is necessarily likeable (subjective).
The writing and directing is impossible to for me to worry about currently. Black has had some success with a couple different types of films (Iron Man 3 being divisive among critics and fans plot wise) and Dekker has some talent and skills himself, but we just don't know how their vision will play out for The Predator. Suburbia has not worked on the big screen in Predator movies so far, but I think it has a lot of potential, it just has to be handled carefully.
The Nice Guys is mint, stole mint from Super 8! Didn't one of the writers on Alien: Covenant write Green Lantern, never saw it cause my brother said it's a terd, and none of us are worried about Covenant. Alien: Covenant is gonna be amazing! And come on everyone likes The Monster Squad, it's classic!
If Danny Glover had been replaced with Jeff Goldblum , then yes it would have been great and so funny but the film was awful. Predators was okay but one dimensional and thus dull on subsequent viewing. AVP could have been a bit better but were more interesting that 'Pretentious'.
Not worried. Not the biggest Predator fan but I enjoy the existing films. Olivia Munn was great on The Newsroom and Keegan Michael-Key is just great. I dug Iron Man 3.
What's not to like.
Oh my gout, I didn't know those horrible facts about Fred Dekker! As if I wasn't fearing the worst already with a lacklustre cast (Holbrook might be very good) and uninspiring plot leaks.
The fact Shane was in the original has given us a false sense of security, because let's face it: he has never directed let alone written a film of the same ilk as Predator. Don't get me wrong, I love The Last Boy Scout, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, and The Nice Guys, but those are witty, dialogue-rich films. Predator cannot be cut from that same cloth.
Anyway, I just hope they don't decide they add and alter the whole mythos with impunity. I personally never want to see 'super-predator' ever again.
McGregor would fare even less well than King Willie.
If Terminator: Genisys is anything to go by, then NO.
If he turns out to have some part in the "genetically-enhanced" creature mentioned in the leak (some kind of Twins meets Junior meets 6th Day), then NO.
However, all other options I am open too -- even perhaps as a crazed old man whom 'Quinn McKenna' goes to to learn more about the predators.
I'm not sure how I feel about this - I like the Predator in it's natural capacity as a hunter, not on a retrieval mission. I think this would interfere with the body count and action that would have occurred otherwise.
I absolutely agree with @Starbeast. The sheer lack of imagination that is the 'super-predators' is shameful.
The predator is a highly intelligent, highly advanced, malevolent being, with the promise of a sophisticated yet alien culture. But that film diminished it to nothing more than tribalistic, which is unoriginal and lazy.
...and the fact a fight between a 'super-predator' and a guy with no shoes and a samurai sword ended in a draw, just shows you how ridiculous the whole thing was.
Jesus, Joseph and Mary!
If mediocre pitches like that are getting the green light then what the hell am I waiting for?
Fox has requested I remove the leaked synopsis guys, guess it was pretty legit!
Im really looking forward to this film but...
"THE PREDATOR 2.0 A ten feet tall genetically enhanced and more advanced Predator who will crash the McKenna family reunion in suburbia."
This doesn't really sound compelling to me.
I can imagine something like this to happen (even tho most likely it won't happen).
In the end the Predator 2.0 gets pwned by a 12 year old rambo that mastered Yautya weapons, that his father sent to him.
We will see.
As long as it isn't a Human/Predator Hybrid and doesn't have 6 arms... I am okay with it.
I would have to say the OG Predator (with Gort helmet)...
I agree with Chris. I loved Concrete Jungle. The concept of the Predator trying to reclaim it's tech is a very interesting one. We get to see how deadly the Predator is without it's tech or with a small amount of it and then we see just how much more deadly it is with it. Besides, none of this is confirmed yet. We shouldn't take this seriously.
Eh, we don't need another Predator variant. The original was already good enough, d@mn it!
Yeah I hate the aspect of there being another bigger badder pred. Who enhanced it? The other predators? doesn't really make sense and if humans did it that's an awful story point.
I hope this isn't true come on shane you were in the first predator you have to know what it takes to make this work.
My expectations are depreciating fast.
Predators don't leave their dead lying around. Fact. So Shane is WROONG!
Shane writes and makes black comedies - good black comedies, but comedies nonetheless. Predator just cannot fit that mold.
PS: I second a Predator versus I.S.I.S. movie. Wouldn't it be exhilarating to see a scene where the baddies just threw someone off a roof but they seemingly float back up, and before you know it, a predator decloaks and chucks the baddies off the roof, but keeps a clench on their spines so that it and their skulls are torn free while their bodies plummet. RADICAL!
Sounds awful.
"THE PREDATOR 2.0 A ten feet tall genetically enhanced and more advanced Predator..."
For the love of Molech, why is this necessary? Is the original Predator not deadly enough? The "super-predators" from Predators were horrendous but it seems we are still moving in the same direction.
"...who will crash the McKenna family reunion in suburbia."
Now I see how the 'set-in-suburbia' rumor came about. But more importantly, this sounds sooo lame it gosta be untrue. Please be untrue.
See I'm actually for the Predator 2.0 concept. 10 feet isn't much taller than a normal Predator and I suspect it might look like a roided up Predator rather than a Super Predator.
Having played Concrete Jungle, I am. all for this angle. Let's see what happens when humans mess with Predator tech and the species themselves! Let's see what monsters we can create and how they stack up against the OG Predators.
Remember though folks, this synopsis is still unconfirmed.
Hmmm I can buy the first half but the Predator 2.0 idea??
Doesn't feel like an epic film as Shane Black promised.
Still can't wait for the movie though
Very interesting... sounds like a good plot
sounds like theyr going to draw on many aspects of concrete jungle
I think they should keep the Super Predators as canon but not really mention them in the movie. I have talked to people about Predators and they didn't seem to understand that Super Predators are a different 'breed', for lack of a better word, than a normal predator. In my opinion Super Predators have potential, but only in future films.
I think they could pull it off, as long as they do it carefully.
New Alien movie, new Predator movie...I love superhero movies but they better watch their back
New Predator Movie! I'm In! Though, I Wish They'd Do A Movie About The Predator Home World We All Caught A Glimpse Of In AVP Requiem.
