You put it right: "babies with no concept of what humor is." They have an excuse.

 Exactly. Why should I care?

I feel cheated somehow, I was expecting a different movie.

But I don't want to spoil the pleasure for others, so I stop for now.

Like Danny Glover, I really am too old for this shit but the sound of a fart is comedy gold! Even babies at least smile at the sound with no concept of what humor is.

It also depends on context.

There is an old saying for what it's worth- "Joke 'em if they can't take a f%^k and f%^k 'em if they can't take a joke."

No, it's not.

It's only insulting to see how little they think of their audience. Fart jokes and such.

Well, the clip above is the funny version of the Loonies vs. Gigantic Predator. And the believable one too.

I'm not sure if you prefer jokes like this:

“How do you circumcise a homeless man? Kick your mother in the chin!” Coyle yells at Baxley at one point. A few minutes later, he follows that up with, “If your mom’s vagina were a video game, it’d be rated ‘E for Everyone’!” Great work."

That's from The Predator.

What's not to love here?

Enjoy it wholeheartedly.

Is it such a sin to want to escape the seriousness and sensitivities of the real world for an hour and a half to indulge in some entertainment, without being offended for 5 minutes?

Probably because brutal and violent death happens between jokes. And some people sensitive to "off color" jokes are sensitive ti little else. Like the crowd entertained by gladiator fights.

There are also the die-hard fans who would accept less than they deserve for their loyalty.

"There’s an extended and deeply uncomfortable bit where Baxley accidentally blurts, “Eat your pussy!” at her and she tries to get him to admit he said it while he and the other Loonies gaslight her (“I said, ‘Sheesh, you’re pushy’!”). There’s a bit of would-be slapstick where Quinn tells her he’ll catch her when she’s about to jump off a bus, then walks away just as she falls." (Vulture)

There is no wonder Shane Black cast a sex offender in this film, he writes and directs like one himself.

I chose not to watch this time.

Oh come on- everyone will laugh at a fart! That might be the only truism that binds us.

I kind of hope Predator gets controversy since that tends to translate to ticket sales.

Well, I like the Aussie sense of humor. Pretty dry wit like England but with more attitude and no fear of outright silliness. If The Australians like Predator, I feel confident!

As far as the comedic value in the clip above, to me it comes from a lone intelligent caged creature scaring the shit out of a bunch of "tough guys" safely behind plexiglass- kind of like keyboard warriors. Kind of makes one wonder who was trolling whom...

Seriously! there is no room for humour left in the world. Everyone gets their kicks from being offended and outraged these days... high and mighty in their Ivory Tower's of smugness and superiority. Everything is offensive and distasteful, and some form of 'ism

Only fools laugh at a fart joke.

Well done PC police.

Same thoughts about the jokes here. Bad jokes from "pre-wokeness grade-schoolers who never shut up."

This one is much funnier:

daliens Some people are sensitive to "off color" jokes. It's not for everyone and historically people can choose not to watch. Interestingly there are usually no qualms about brutal and violent death- REAL harm. Public figures talking like that are entirely different from a movie or stand up comedy imo.

I think Covenant cost about 35-36 million- more than Predator if sources I saw were accurate.

Please enlighten me if this review from Vulture called "The Predator biggest flaw is that it thinks it's a comedy" is also part of the PC Brigade.

What is hilarious here, what am I missing?

And this film cost almost as much as Alien Covenant. What a waste. Even for Shane Black.

Interesting. The crowd around me in the cinema were in stitches the whole film. There was a surprising amount of vocal reactions from the audience..... but maybe that say's more about us Australian's than the actual film itself though.....hmmm

Yeah, that reveal at the end. Just no. nope.

This movie really caught me by surprise.  I went to the theater with trepidation from all the press about reshoots, casting problems, and rumors of a horror-comedy script... after the absolute cracker of an opening set piece I forgot all that and enjoyed the film.  This is easily the best of the Predator sequels and one of the best action sci-fi films made in recent memory.  I sincerely hope Black gets license to make another addition to the franchise and I would really like to see him tackle an Alien or Alien-Predator film.

Maybe with Disney one needs to learn and play by the rules first before knowing how to bend and break them. Cash returns talk.

Anyone who knows anything about Michael Key should know what they can expect......snicker....."Sometimes the right man in the wrong place makes all the difference"- G Man, Half Life.

I say let the PC Brigade shout it out- the forbidden fruit is the sweetest.

"It looked… it didn’t really feel like a big expensive movie when the predators are just running around in daylight like that.

We could have finished the film like that, honestly we could have, but I just didn’t think it would work as well. Thankfully, I have to credit 20th Century Fox, this was a big, fairly expensive deal to turn that back into night time, and they went along with it."

Shane Black said it clearly he had no idea what he was doing, except for the jokes, of course. The main concern was to make it look like a big expensive movie. And expensive it was, alright, thanks to Fox that stepped in and made it look like a Marvel kind of film, to please the Disney audience.

Was it really necessary to create a King Kong with an Iron Man suit mutannt predator?

My guess is the ultimate predator killer suit will be used against the predaliens that will come out of the upgrade predator.

I am glad Arnie did not come back to validate this terrible film.

It is sad to see such scathing reviews of this film.

Creature-feature / Sci-fi films rarely get good wraps with maintstream media, but the PC brigade take particular offence to the "taste-less, sexist, racist, misogynist, insensitive jokes" of this film.

Here's a fact for you. This was the first film I've been to in a while where the audience was actively engaged with the film, not mindlessly sitting there sipping on Pepsi.

So 'tasteless' as it may be, it had the crowd in stitches.

Well, thy are called nuns because they get none.

It sounds like a pretty good and creepy movie though. Still, it is nice to hear a sci fi movie with roots to the 1980s pushed The Nun to the side.

It is nice to hear there is a straight up good movie with good characters, no murky philosophical layers and such.

Im glad they re-did that ending in darkness. It was a menacing scene. It wouldn't have been nearly as effective in daylight.

IMO Black nailed this film. The mood, and mix of comedy between some brutal violence was on-point. The relationship between the characters is what drove the film.

Although the plot is not particularly deep, it does the job, and doesn't get bogged down trying to force it down your throat. It just rolls forward.

It's an odd contrast with Alien Covenant where the characters were mostly dull, irrelevant and moot, but the deeper philosophical story was the driving point.

Black did it better.

Except that final moment reveal....

Haha there were a lot of comments in the cinema about Arnie coming out of the pod....or a Xenomorph.

I have concerns about where this suit is going. I hope it doesn't turn into the IronMan suit of Predator. The biggest drawcard to this franchise is the dominate strength and tech of the Yautja over us puny humans. How do you beat that?!

But what good is one suit? It is either ridiculously over-powered and will turns the table's against the yautja too much, and where is the fun in that!

Or, its a suit capable of defending against the odd hunter or two but not a full-scale invasion. But then what is the point, and why now? They have been 'sustainably' hunting on our planet for centuries without causing population collapse. A few deaths here and there hardly seems like warranting gifting us their tech...something they have been avidly against happening.

Loved the initial breakout scene with the Fugitive Predator at Stargazer Base more, but yes this was one of the better scenes. True Predator fashion!

I'm not really a fan of the design either. When I first saw it I was thinking to myself "What type of fuck shit?"
I was honestly expecting Arnold Schwarzenegger to come out of the capsule and say "I'm back".

If I recall correctly, the ultimate predator called the fugitive predator a traitor.
My guess is; the predators had it in their possession (idk from who, maybe the tech was one of its kind) and wanted to destroy it since its capable of eradicating their own kind.
The Fugitive Pred stole it and carried it to earth. The ultimate pred. was then sent after to destroy it.

Humans being humans, having some predator tech will most likely make some weapons out of it. I do wonder how powerful the predator killer is.

The ending of the film is pretty much like the ending from the independence day resurgence.

I would have preferred that they have kept it at the classic yautja with a proper story.

What I want to know is if Shane Black f$%cked the classic predator so bad that its DNA now needs continuous enhancements.

The Predator earned $10.45 million on Friday, including $2.5m in Thursday previews according to Forbes. So far it seems according to the predictions.

I wonder  how many of those who chose to see The Nun this weekend will go for The Predator next week.

It is mentioned in several of the films that they like the heat, so I wouldn't say that is the phenotypes they are targeting for adaptation.

They are more interested in the 'next stage of human evolution' in the form of mental aptitude/capacity.....

daliens This time it's a beautiful MF (and not the actor). The mother of the child, who is the only true warrior around according to the big predator, also survives. The big predator comes for the small one however...

"The plot revolves around the Yautja upgrading themselves with DNA to become better adapted to our planet before they move in post-climate warning breakdown of the planet."

So they upgrade themselves with the DNA of humans who would have died off because of climate change with said DNA but the Predators would survive that changed climate with the human DNA. Sound like a sound plan alright.

(Actual that was only a speculation on behalf of the baddy).

Well, I apologize for not knowing Angry Joe.

After reading most reviews it seems to me as a popcorn flick, packed with one liners by ex-soldiers (instead of marines),  who are there to help on a bug hunt (or ugly mfs). And there is the gigantic predator who came to Earth for the DNA of an autist child that will make the gigantic predator totally invincible. The kid, his father and the woman are the only survivors . I don't remember if they mention the predator king is dead or he escaped. Probably is dead and more will return for the same specific kid's DNA.

Yeah you want to see it in the cinema! It has that big cinematic entertainment feel of the Avenger, GotG, etc films.

See it big and loud!
