Design and Traits

The Bone Bison got its name due to its rigid exoskeleton-like plates which cover strategic parts of its body. Its hide is completely covered in dense bone, making it nearly impenetrable. Its head features a massive axe-shaped bone structure which protects the Bone Bison's extremely soft and vulnerable inner flesh. Acting like laterally-hinged jaws, the axe-like mouth opens up to reveal a trunk-like proboscis which the Bone Bison uses to eat. Exposing this proboscis is also a weakness however, which Dek exploits in the film – a simple throw of his Lazer Sword is enough to completely slice through the Bone Bison's entire body with ease.

Bone Bison gets sliced in half

The Bone Bison grazes in the Razor Grass fields to avoid predators, since the Razor Grass make traversing the landscape nearly impossible for most other lifeforms on Genna. The Kalisk and the Bone Bison are the only two creatures on the planet specifically adapted to move through Razor Grass without getting sliced to bits.

Bone Bison meat is apparently not sweet and Yautja are able to eat and metabolize its tissue.
