Dek - the new Yautja to enter the Predator franchise. Like the Feral Predator in Prey but unlike previous installments, the facial visual effects for the Predator in Dan Trachtenberg's next film is completely digital. No mask with motors which gave the Predator its iconic large head to body ratio is being used for the new film. VFX for Dek's face was handled by Weta Digital - one of top players when it comes to visual effects.

Are you a fan of how the new Predator looks?

Personally, I prefer the traditional look for the Yautja. It would be nearly impossible to ever beat Stan Winston's original, but even other iterations of Predator faces looked more on brand than this new age digital motion capture. Maybe I'm old school, I dunno. As much time and effort goes into perfecting the details of these CGI facial effects, I think a hand-made mask with motors to work the mandibles would have been fine.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
