Actor Sterling K. Brown recently sat down with IndieWire in San Diego during Comic-Con to discuss his role in Shane Black's The Predator and to open up about his character, William Traeger.

Traeger is basically the man heading the Project Stargazer mission - an initiative to study and exploit the Predator species and their technology. We learn that Traeger has some personal interests at heart during the course of the film and also has a bit of a chip on his shoulder for the Predator. As IndieWire explains:

Traeger, an alien technology expert through his Project Stargazer. Studying artifacts from past predator attacks, Traeger is amassing all the knowledge he can about the creatures. “He has his own interest at heart, but also [is] looking to just kick the predator’s ass.

The interview goes on to explain that Traeger isn't the most friendly of sorts -referring to him as "kind of a dick".

If done well then i think giving some Military Company having a Interest in Predator Technology and what Technology/Process they use to Genetically Enhance themselves and then hope to apply and use these for Human Military Gain could be something interesting.

It adds that kind of Weyland-Yutani Vibe/Agenda to the Predator Franchise, and its very fitting because IF the Predators were real and had left some Technology on Earth you can be sure the Governments etc that recover them would be looking to Secretly Exploit and Reverse Engineer them, and also if they recovered any Alien Species they would be looking at WHAT makes them tick and what Traits make them more Advanced than us.

So i think Shane Blacks Plot is a Logical way to have expanded on the Previous movies
