Shane Black compares practical effects approach for The Predator to Jurassic Park!

Predator 4 director Shane Black has opened up communication with fans on his personal Twitter feed and one fan asked the director how he and Fox were approaching The Predator's visual effects. Obviously, most fans will agree the preservation of Stan Winston's original design and the use of practical effects are a very important part of this franchise.

Black responded by comparing the approach for visual and practical effects on The Predator with those of the original Jurassic Park - referring to the pairing as seamless:

In the past, many Hollywood blockbusters have favored the use of CGI over practical effects due to budgetary constraints and personal preferences by the director. However to the relief of many fans, it seems Black is determined to keep the use of practical effects prevalent in the next Predator instalment.

The Predator begins filming in February, 2017. Be sure to check Predator4-Movie.com often for more updates and the latest news!

Predator is one of the series where CGI isn't really needed for the most case at least in large quantities.

The character never really had such complex gear that it wouldn't be easy to do with practical effects.

Exactly, it's not like Pacific Rim or films needing massive monsters. Predator works best with a guy in a suit. The CGI can benefit in ways of enhancing the Predator's energy based weapons and the cloak effect, but when it comes to the creature itself, CGI is unnecessary.

I really like Black's comparison to Jurassic Park, arguably one of the best films to blend CGI and practical effects. (Looked more real than Jurassic World imo)
