In the 1990 sequel to Predator fan favorite Gary Busey (Lethal Weapon, Point Break) starred alongside Adam Baldwin (Chuck, Firefly) as Special Agent Peter Keyes, the leader of the OWLF (Other World Life Form) task force tasked with tracking and capturing the Predator that was hunting in 1997 Los Angeles. In Predator 2 Busey's character Keyes informed Detective Harrigan (Danny Glover) that following the events of the first movie his team had been tracking the alien hunters whenever and wherever there was a heatwave and armed conflict. Sadly Keyes met his end while trying to capture his prize.
Back in March Deadline reported that Busey's son Jake (Starship Troopers) would be joining the cast of the forthcoming sequel The Predator, directed by Shane Black, best known to Predator fans as lewd joker Private Hawkins from the original movie. This fueled speculation among fans and the press that the American actor would likely portray a character related to that portrayed by his father. Courtesy of The Red Booth Jake has confirmed the speculation...
“[Shane Black] called me and he said ‘Hey, you wanna do this movie? We don’t have money for you but it’ll be a fun thing to come play and be your father’s son.’ And so as much as I have followed in my Dad’s footsteps career-wise, this is like really following in his footsteps by playing a character who is the son of the character he played. And I don’t think there would be any other forum where I would do that. I think this is the one thing. If you liked the very first movie a lot, you’ll really like this one. This one has a lot of essence of the first movie.”
Jake joined the cast and crew of The Predator in May and was present for three weeks of filming, suggesting a relatively small part in the movie, though while speaking to The Red Booth Jake did confirm, as evidenced in the photo he uploaded to Instagram (below) back in may, that his character will be a scientist.
