Rumor control, here are the facts! There have been a few reports floating around recently that mentioned MMA fighter Conor McGregor was offered a lead role in Shane Black's The Predator. We neglected to run with the story having known the lead role was already given to Boyd Holbrook, so the mention of McGregor being offered the role this late in, seemed off.
The rumor gained enough momentum however that director Shane Black took to Twitter moments ago to confirm whether or not McGregor was in fact offered a role or not. As expected, Black confirmed that Conor was not in fact offered a lead role in Predator 4.
MMA fighters crossing over to Hollywood film is nothing new. Like the WWE/WWF, many of these athletes find comfortable careers in Hollywood following their time in ring. Jesse Ventura is a great example of this transition, who actually starred in the original Predator film with Shane Black and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Although McGregor may be eyeing the blockbuster route, The Predator will not be his breakout role.
